birthday boy

Our little Myles turned 2 yesterday. I can't believe it's been two years already, although I don't remember life without him. This is what he looked like the day he was born.
6 months
1 year birthday
18 months - sun bleached hair
2nd birthday.
I am so grateful that Heavenly Father sent Myles to our family. He brings me so much joy and excitment in my life and I love him more than I can express.

blog books

I noticed a link on Kasey's blog that caught my attention...
Turning your blog into a book!! I've always wondered if there was a way to save or print your blog and now I know it's possible. Yeah - this may end my scrapbook dilemma.

i miss my flip-flops

It's been yucky cold the last few days. You know, so cold that both kids cried on the 10 second walk from the car into the store (and on the way out too... but, whatever).
I'm trying to keep everyone here from becoming depressed, so we decided to pretend it was spring. Morgan ran to the pile of books and set us up for her favorite spring indoor activity. Then she got in position...

We've gone way too long without pink toes. I fear poor Morgan has inherited my toes (or finger-toes as Mike calls them). I know they are hideous to look at, but they come in handy (no pun intended) when you need to pick things up with them.

I will teach her to embrace her finger-toes and wear flip-flops proudly!

poor byu fan

I've seen these pictures floating around and they make me chuckle.

For the record, I don't have anything against BYU.

wanted: music fans

Mike has been thinking about running a marathon for a little while now, but has decided that probably won't happen. Way too time consuming... We settled on running a half marathon together (that counts as a full marathon right - since we are one??)
Anyway - this event is in April so we start our 10 week training the first week of February. I am getting really sick of my current running music and need to download some new tunes for my Saturday long runs... I've been out of the music world for a while now (really nursery rhymes and sesame street songs are about all I get) and I need help.
Does anyone have a favorite work out song. Most of my music is too mellow... I need upbeat, motivating music to keep me moving along.
For Example:
Right now about 1/2 mile before the end of my run I put on, "If You're Going Through Hell" by Rodney Atkins. The lyrics pull me through to finish and the beat is perfect for my pace.
Today I uploaded Eminem's "Lose Yourself" (the clean version of course) because it gets me all fired up. It reminds me of Ohio State Football right before kickoff. Love it!

Any favorites out there?? Let me know...

my own little bob ross

Why is it when you ask a three year old to smile you get this...

This was the best out of three pictures I took (can you imagine the others...)
Morgan's preschool class is displaying their artwork at the Upper Arlington Library this month. We are so proud of our little artist - she is even starting to dress like one layering all sorts of articles of clothing together. Here she went with her nightie over the top of her jeans and shirt. When I asked her to change before we left she yelled, "You'll never understand me." I think we have discovered her calling in life.

gooey goober face

This was my sweet boy two days ago...

And this was him this morning. The poor little guy came down with pink eye last night and he's been a goopy mess all day. We've never had pink eye at our house before, but I've heard about what to look forward to over the next few days. Even though he's on drops, I'm hoping he'll wake up tomorrow with his eyes sealed shut from dried up goop. Oh come on - you know that's funny.

With Myles condition being what it was, we stayed away from friends today. We got a little bored halfway through the day, so I took the kids to the dollar store. Morgan was so excited to pick out anything in the entire store. We found these adorable hair clips and bow that matched her princess skirt from Grandma. It was just what she needed for an afternoon in - she played princess and danced all afternoon.

I love having a girl who lets me play with her hair. I wasn't a girly girl growing up, but I secretly hope she is.

Myles decided to use his dollar to buy a two pack of recorders. He gave one to big sister and they played lovely music together (if you call loud screeching music). Oh well - anything to keep him from clinging to my leg all afternoon.

projects

It's been project week at our house. Saturday night Mike and Taylor spent over 4 1/2 hours installing our new kitchen sink. Like most projects, it took much longer than expected and there were a couple emergency trips to The Home Depot.

In the end, it was worth the effort. Our yucky old steel sink is right where it belongs - in the dumpster at the apartment complex behind our housing development. It's strange how little things like a soap pump attached to the sink and a pull out faucet head make me look forward to doing dishes. Don't worry, I'm sure that will wear off soon enough, but for now bring on the dirty dishes!

Our next project was inspired by our little climber. I walked in on Myles riding the side of his crib like a horse and decided it was time to lose the crib. I was sad to see it go, but we were super excited to finally decorate a little boys room. We decided to lose the yellow nursery walls and make it a little more manly. Mike was in charge and picked out bedding and paint colors.

The room has a camping theme. I love this lamp that looks like a lantern. The bottom has a little light (4 Watts) that can be used as a night light.

I noticed these bears next to the bedding and I just had to bring one home with us.

The sheets are my favorite part of the room - they have bear paw prints on them.

Myles loves his new bed. The first night he slept in it, he kept pointing to the wall and saying daddy- meaning daddy changed the color of the wall. It was fun to watch how excited he was about the new color on the walls. It made the 6 hours of cutting the walls worth it to me. (I am a little particular when I paint so it takes forever...)

I think all the painting inspired Morgan to do a project of her own. She was so proud of her work, she said, "Mommy, isn't he beautiful".

some of our favorite things

Of all the things the kids got for Christmas, these little Shrek figures have been played with the most. Myles has carried the pink dragon around so much that his palm has permanent indents from the wings.

I also have a few favorite gifts. My friends AnnDee and Nina made me some fun things to decorate with. I love this one hanging over our kitchen table...

I noticed this saying in the Nadauld's home many months ago and mentioned to AnnDee that I love it... She remembered and made me one for Christmas. I love it and placed it on our piano where we'd see it the most.

Another one of my favorite gifts was this darling handbag that my talented mother-in-law, Shawn, made for me.

It's the perfect size and oh so fashionable. I know she put a lot of time and love into this bag. I am so thankful to have such a great woman as my mother-in-law.
Here's a close up shot so you can see just how cute it is.

I also love my new camera Santa gave me so I could take such awesome pictures... Thanks Santa!
