Such a mix of happy and sad

Let's start with the happy news first. I will only be pregnant for 7 more days -max. If I don't go into labor this week, I have a scheduled induction for next Saturday. YAY! I'd be surprised if I don't go sooner, but it's nice to know there is an end in sight. Really, I am just done being pregnant! I am getting so excited - I know this may sound crazy, but I love going to the hospital and going through the whole labor and delivery thing. I find it rather exciting and enjoyable (thanks to epidurals!). I really just want to meet this little boy that's been squirming inside me for so long. I say, BRING IT ON!

Now on to the sad news. Today was the day we've been dreading for a while now... The Nadaulds have officially moved from Ohio to Utah. We are bummed. We've spent a lot of time together over the last couple years and our kids have been like siblings to each other. I don't think we'll ever completely get over not having them here, but we still love them and look forward to many future family vacations together!
After dropping them off at the airport today, Morgan turned around in her seat and watched them through the back window as Mike drove away. She started crying and realized that they were really leaving. Mike said it was sad watching her experience her first real broken heart. So Mike being the fabulous dad that he is, took her out for a donut. He knows how to start the healing process.

Yes she knows the muffin man

Our little dancer is getting ready for her first dance recital. I LOVE having a girl. She had her dress rehearsal yesterday and did a splendid job. Her class is performing to an arrangement of the nursery rhyme Do You Know the Muffin Man.

Daddy is always so proud of his little lady.

TA-DA! I had to post pictures from the rehearsal since there is a decent chance I won't be able to make it to her recital. I'm sad that I may miss it, but I'm excited to get this baby out!

Please Put Down The Ice Pick, My Nether Regions Can't Take It Anymore

Mike here. I have no idea what it's like being pregnant and I am definitely not good at sympathising with those that are. I don't know what it feels like to have a person moving around in my stomach while it tries to get comfortable in between my "child bearin' hips". I can't relate to someone playing knick knack on my bladder, cravings or getting morning sickness. I think we all know what the obvious reason for that is, but the sympathising part is a bit more tricky. Unfortunately, it's not real to me until he/she pops their head out and says "I just diarrheaed down my leg, a little help here would be nice". That's the moment I know the last 9 months were real and the next 9 months will be even more real but well worth it.

In my attempt to relate, I asked Amber what it felt like to be pregnant and she said, "it feels like someone is stabbing me with an ice pick in my nether regions". I know for a fact I can't relate to someone jabbing me with an ice pick below the belt, unless you count the time in middle school when I got a baseball to my lone and dreary area. I still have night terrors from that experience. Regardless of how hard I try, I just can't relate and based upon Amber description, I think I may stop trying.

Despite my inability to connect, I want my wife to know how much I appreciate her 9 months of uncomfort and pain. I love her for the sacrifices she makes and her ability to endure. Amber I love you and thank you for understanding my inability to relate. You just have a few more weeks ahead of you, so congratulations, maybe we can do it again real soon.

I want to gush

I LOVE this girl. I just need to document some of my favorite things about her...
Even though Morgan is almost 5, she still says a few things the way she did when she was 3... For instance, she calls blankets "blank-lets". And if she wants peanut butter, she asks for pink-a-butter.
And when she's in a goofy mood, she responds to everything with one word, "banana". For instance, if I say, "Morgan do you want to read with me" she'll say, "banana". Then we all laugh because we know that no matter what we say to her from this point on in the conversation she'll answer with banana.

She is so excited to have a new baby at our house. Her nurturing instincts are kicking into high gear. She's had lots of exposure to our friends baby over the last few months... Maybe too much exposure... Here she is with my new nursing shield (THANK YOU ANNDEE!) pretending to nurse her baby doll just like AnnDee nurses Sam... She told the boys in the room that the baby needed a moment of privacy and she proceeded to lift up her shirt and pretend feed the doll. That's my girl!

She invited me to a special Mother's Day Tea Party at school this past week. She assured me that it was okay for us to partake of the "Tea" since it was just punch and not real tea.

My girl loves to feel like a girl... She loves to wear dresses, get her hair and nails done (by mom), wear fancy shoes, put on jewelry, and she loves to dance.

Here she is playing goalie at her last soccer game. She's been playing this season! YAY! I don't think she's kicked the ball, but she does run after it with the other kids. Huge steps forward from last falls performance. While she was goalie she just stood there and twirled her hair, but I'm not complaining one bit.
Her latest thing is twirling her hair - ALL THE TIME. I am about to pull my own hair out trying to get her to stop. At first it was cute, but it has turned into a nervous habit that knots her up so bad that I occasionally have to cut them out. If anyone knows any tricks to break this, I'd be much obliged for your advice.

I am married to The Man!

Here's a picture of "The Man" just after he crossed the finish line for the Columbus Half Marathon on Saturday. Mike did such an awesome job. He just gets faster and faster each race.

He had a very impressive fan base at the final stretch cheering him on. Don't you think this group could get anyone fired up? Just look at the excitement oozing from their very beings.

Here he comes - .1 to go... And he crosses with a new personal best time of 1:45:46. Sweet!

And a big kiss from his proud little lady. Way to go Mike! We are so proud of you.
