We weren’t sure if LoToJa was going to happen this year with Covid and all, but they figured out a way to make it work!
Cousin Katie come to our house and stayed with the 3 girls while the boys came along to be Mike’s support crew!
The guys started in small groups and Mike’s group started around 5:30 am- so early, and a little chilly! Better cool than hot is my race day mentality! Don’t worry, it warmed up for them!
Best support crew around!!
We saw them a few times along the way! Good pace fellas!
Another year with the Derrick’s! They are pros at LoToJa. This was Mike’s 3rd time, but it was like 7 times for James.
Getting ready for his pit stop... we only have about 20 seconds to change his water bottles, stuff his pockets, get him a drinks and food, put on chapstick, dump water on his head, and shout some words of encouragement at him. Its harder than you’d think.
Mike was tired by the last pit stop. I think he wanted to quit, but he pushed through anyway!
We’ve made some fun new friends through Mike’s cycling team Zanconado. This is Ted’s wife Lauralee.
Waiting at the finish line.
He’s done! 203 miles, 8,500’ climbing, averaged 21.4 MPH to come in at 9 1/2 hours! Amazing!
Top 10 in his category! Woohoo! And top 50 in the entire race! Huge accomplishment.
We walked through Jackson Hole that night and got some dinner with the Derricks.
It’s tradition to get Moo’s ice cream in Jackson. YUMMY!
The boys had a great time! So glad Mike lets us tag along on his adventures!
