Oh how we love our Miles!! π
He brings so much love and excitement to our home. Ivy and I checked Miles out for a birthday lunch at Mo Betta’s. Yummy! Good choice Miles!
All Miles wanted for his birthday was Kobe Bryant basketball shoes. I ordered them at the beginning of January and let them sit in my closet until his birthday... I was glad I did... Kobe ended up dying in a helicopter accident just a few days before Miles birthday (Jan 26th) and then it became impossible to get the shoes he wanted. He was so happy when he opened them.
Happy enough to kiss them. ππ
Then on his birthday, he had a Jr Jazz Game, so of course he wore his new shoes! Nathan Horne told everyone walking into the gym that it was Miles’ birthday and to sing to him when/if he shot foul shots. Sure enough, during the 1st quarter, Miles was fouled on a shot and stepped up to the line. Everyone started singing Happy Birthday π€£. He acted like he didn’t notice, but he felt so special! It was the perfect birthday night for him! And they won!! Bonus!
That weekend we took Miles out for his birthday dinner to Mikado’s Japanese Steakhouse. Mike helped him use chopsticks for the first time... we need to work on that a bit more π.
He tried his first sushi... π€’π€’. Too bad Mike ordered something really fishy and it wasn’t good at all. Not a good first experience. He spit it out on his plate, but at least he tried it. π
This was the year of a huge growth spurt for Miles. He grew almost 4 inches!!! π±. And he gained who knows how many pounds. He weighs in around 103 pounds now, and he’s almost bigger than his mama! His feet are now bigger than mine and may even be as big as Mike’s. The shoes he got for his birthday were 10 1/2’s - the same size as Mike’s basketball shoes! Now I know why he’s always hungry and wants to eat around the clock.
Miles keeps us on our toes for sure. He comes home with black-eyes from basketball class (not from fighting, just bonking heads), and he gets himself into all kids of predicaments. (See the next picture where he got himself stuck in his own jacket π€£) But he also has the biggest, kindest heart! He loves his peer tutoring class at school where he spends time with special needs students. He was asked by the teacher to come back for the 2nd semester and she even rearranged his schedule so he could do it. They all love him and he really has a special way about him that makes them all feel like he’s their best friend. I have to share one story that Miles told me that made me laugh... He went for a walk through the school halls with one of the boys in the class that has Downs Syndrome. The boy said to Miles, "We are going to get married someday!", to which Miles replied, "That's awesome! I can't wait!". Then they both started laughing. I love that Miles doesn't take life too seriously and he is able to connect with anyone and have a good time. I'm always being told by everyone that knows Miles that he is such a great friend! Everyone loves Miles!! (Well, except for some of his teachers that don't appreciate his social nature and carefree attitude...That's okay Miles, you can't win them all π.)
Mike took the boys to the Jazz game with some tickets he scored from work. Happy Birthday to our Miles. We love you! π₯°
