I hear good friends are like a good bra....

They are hard to find, supportive, comfortable, they always lift you up and make you look better, and they are always close to your heart.  That's definitely how I feel about my bra, I mean my friends.
Especially when this is some of them.
So here's the question of the day: Is there a better way to celebrate President's Day than by going bowling with friends?
I don't think so!

We competed family vs. family - best average score wins.  Even though I got the lowest score of those without bumpers (next time I think I should use bumpers!)  that didn't hurt our team one bit thanks to this guy.  Mike had the highest score of the day (typical for him - he's good at everything that involves a ball of some sort - it's kind of annoying actually) and he pulled our family through for the win!

I almost captured his little victory grandpa kick...  I got half of him...

This is Will's favorite picture of him with a couple of his friends.  He keeps asking me if he can see a "Will Sandwich".  Then I show him this picture and he says, "yup, that's a Will sandwich".

Meg has some friends to. This is Matthew and she already has her eye on him.  When he comes over to play they sneak off and get into all kinds of trouble. Let's hope that dumping out animal crackers is the worst trouble they find... I kind of doubt it, but I am hopeful.

This is how Meg lets me know she wants something....

If only I were in Elders Quorum!

Then I could hang out in the halls on Sunday and goof off with my friends instead of going to class...  Meanwhile, all of us ladies are running a tight ship in primary.  Good thing some of us have our priorities on the straight and narrow.

I think Meg is looking forward to the day when she can go to nursery...  Only a few more months, Meggie, and you can get away from daddy and his abuse with facial hair.   :)

A 15 Month Meggie

She's a big 15 month old.  Actually she's not big at all, she is rather petite. But that just makes her even more cute, right?  I think so!
She had her 15 month check-up today and here are her stats:
Weight: 19 lb 1 oz - she dropped to the 3rd percentile
Heights: 29 1/2" - about the 20th percentile
I actually love having small children - it makes carrying them around much easier for me!

Just because she is small, doesn't mean she isn't a handful.  This girl has started climbing everything she can.  Before I had her, I hoped for a girl because I didn't want to deal with all the climbing my boys put me through... Mike laughs at me and says that I should stop wishing for certain things because the opposite usually happens.  So true!
I am amazed at the mess that one OREO can make in less than 2 minutes.

She is like her sister when it comes to messes.  She hates having dirty hands... She usually holds them out and grunts at me until I wipe them off.  Oreo's seem to be the only exception... She's happy having them smeared all over her body.

Sledding fun

It's been a wintry winter this year.  Lots and lots of snow - especially when compared to last year.  And that's why we have spent most of our Saturdays sledding with friends.  The 4 wheeler has been the best part, no more hiking to the top of the hill after sledding down.  These kids are getting soft :)

Meggie's even bundled up a few times to get in on the action.

Luckily for us, our friends live on side of the mountain with tons of open land where the dads can pull the kids on their sleds.  Some days the conditions are great and some days the snow is icy and not so great.  The kids love it anyway and I'm amazed how long they last out there.

And that's where Mike's phone died... I didn't even get any good pictures of the kids sledding or of me learning to drive the 4 wheeler.  I have to say, I'm a natural.  A dare-devil at heart so to speak....  Well, maybe not... I drove a little slow, but the kids didn't complain.  Hopefully I can get back out there one more time before the seasons over.  I can kick it up a notch.  Those kids better hold on tight - daddy isn't the only one that can bring on a good time!

My Birthday Boys (Well, one birthday boy and one old man boy)

This week we had two birthdays at our house.  First, our sweet little Miles turned 7!  His teacher spotlighted him and let him bring in a bunch of stuff all about him.  He brought his Miles Jazz Jersey, his basketball, his basketball shoes, his OSU pennant, and a picture of his family.  What a cutie!

It just so happened to be early out on his birthday so he was home early enough to go out for a birthday lunch with Grandma & Grandpa Beckstead.  (My poor dad fell and broke his shoulder during that huge ice storm we had last week...  It was nuts.  The urgent care centers and hospitals were full of people with broken bones from falling on the ice.  I've never seen anything like it here in Utah.  We had to crawl up our driveway just to get into the house after school... Everything was covered in a huge layer of ice.  It was easy to see how he fell.  It's too bad he fell just a few months before retirement... But if you know anything about my dad, you wouldn't be surprised to know he was back at work two days later even though the Dr told him to stay home :)  Miles was happy that Grandpa was around to go on his birthday lunch.
Miles has been wanting a leather indoor basketball for a while now, but they can be pricey!   He decided to combine the money he got from Grandma & Grandpa Dehner with the money he got from Grandma & Grandpa Beckstead to buy one.  What a happy boy!

Then we had our family birthday dinner.  Miles wanted to go Training Table.  There weren't any complaints about that one!

He opened our gift to him while we waited...  A new athletic bag to carry his ball and basketball shoes to the gym!!  And of course Mike couldn't resist getting him some open toe sandals to wear with his socks so he's all ready to slide on his basketball shoes right when they step onto the court. Can you tell the boys of this house are obsessed with basketball??

Then it was time for cake.... Of course it was a........ yup, that's right, a basketball.
Grandma & Grandpa Dehner sent Miles a fun package with all the fixins for a party.  Isn't that a great idea! This chocolate cake and frosting was part of that package.  It was super handy for me :)  This was my favorite birthday cake to make so far.  It was so easy, and we LOVE reeses pieces.  YUM!

And there was plenty of prizes and avengers stuff in the package to keep the kids busy all night.  It was such a thoughtful gift!  Thank you Grandma & Grandpa Dehner!

Then over the weekend for Miles friend party, he decided he wanted to take a few friends to the Jazz game instead of having a party.  Easy enough!

Then a few days later it was my man's birthday.  I got a sitter for the kids (THANK YOU AUNT BROOKIE & UNCLE STEVE!) and we went on a date, which is not a common occurrence for us. It was fabulous.  We have such neat friends here in our ward - they definitely keep us laughing and make us feel young - even though Mike is now 35!  That's old.  I can't believe I'm married to an old man.  At least he's a cute old man, right?  We went to Tepanyaki for dinner - good choice!!    There is something about Japanese Steakhouses that make me very happy.  SO YUMMY!  Here's to another year!
