🀎 Gingerbread House Time 🀎

It’s time for one of our very favorite traditions!!  This tradition happens only because my mom is so selfless and spends hours making each family a gingerbread house. On top of making 7 large houses with glass windows and 2 smaller houses for Meg and Ivy, she made gingerbread trains for the great grandkids to decorate! There was so much frosting, candies and edible decor all over the place!  Everyone is spread out making them, but we got a couple of pictures with a few of us.

Grandma spoils the girls! She gave Meg and Ivy each their own little house to make. They did theirs all by themselves and didn’t ask for any help. They turned out adorable!!!

Love it Meg!!

Since the boys weren’t with us (they were traveling home from Ohio) it felt like a special “girls night”.

Ohio State / Michigan Game

Mike is the best dad! He planned a fun getaway with the boys to go see the Ohio State v Michigan game. Taylor tagged along with his boys (except Jake who’s on a mission).
The boys were more than excited to go! They ended up having a super fun weekend despite the outcome of the game.
SPOILER- Ohio State lost. 😭😭😭

They saw Scott and Juliana while they were there! Unfortunately the Seymour’s had Covid so they weren’t able to meet up.

πŸ¦ƒπŸ₯§πŸ€ŽThanksgiving πŸ¦ƒ πŸ₯§ 🀎

This year we had a quiet Thanksgiving. It was lovely! My mom was on a fun vacation with Mindy in Branson, Missouri this past week and wasn’t sure if she’d be up for making a feast right after getting back, so we all told her to just let us do our own this year. It worked out nicely.  (We’ll head over on Sunday to make gingerbread houses, she’s not getting out of that tradition. πŸ˜‰)
The night before Thanksgiving Meg made us adorable place settings with our names. 😍
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1ptrNB5CdnxtuCr_USPbXRVaKzCtYDMq7
Then on Thanksgiving we turned on some music and just enjoyed being together.
I spent the morning cooking with helpers coming in every now and then to check on me.  Our Thanksgiving meal was πŸ’―% gluten free and consisted of: Turkey, gravy, stuffing, cranberry chutney, loaded mashed potatoes, candied yams, green bean casserole, corn, peach jam and homemade rolls.  Oh, and everyone’s favorite part was the green lime/pineapple slushee to drink. 🀀
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1JBhdqyXLa3zwVG1vir_qf5zHMDstKJzo
I also made these cute mini pumpkin cheesecakes for dessert. Nobody would ever know they were gluten free! (I did buy the kids a Marie Callender’s chocolate satin pie for dessert, because they wanted it… Those little gluten savages couldn’t go just one day without some gluten. πŸ‘Ή )
When Ivy saw my mini cheesecakes she asked me if I used to drink coffee. I told her that I never have had coffee before and asked her why she thought that.  She explained that my cheesecakes looked like the art on top of coffee.  πŸ˜‚  It’s true!!

Meg’s ankle has been acting up again.  She started complaining about her ankle aching intermittently at the beginning of November. Within 2 weeks it went from bothering her every couple days, to aching daily and her wanting to wear her boot to relieve some of the pain. It seems to be on and off and slowly getting worse.  I have an appointment with her Orthopedic Surgeon on Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It’s hard to get in during the holiday, and of course that’s when it starts acting up. This sweet girl loves to keep her mom and dad in a state of worry.

While I was cooking Miles came up to do some laundry. Out of the corner of my eye I see this…
I don’t know what this kid is out doing half the time.

While I cooked, Ivy insisted on decorating the Christmas tree. She just couldn’t wait until Thanksgiving was over. Morgan sat in with her and took this cute picture.  Ivy worked on it all day and went back in the evening to finish up.  It was adorable and kept her attention much longer than I thought it would.  (We did have a couple ornaments get broken in the process, but Mike lovingly reminded me that it wasn’t a big deal and she was just a girl that was so excited for Christmas. He always sees the big picture.)

Will showing off his new tricks. (Okay this was the day before thanksgiving but it’s getting thrown in here.)
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1wLWnnnP5YoVIYRRgrThpV8luEZ1m5dAu
This year I tried the mom’s place crescent rolls.  They were good and even flaky, which I didn’t think was possible with gluten free rolls.  The gravy was good too!  I’ll pass on the stuffing next year. Not a keeper… I’ll find another stuffing to try next year. (Or maybe surprise Miles and make Stove Top despite it having gluten. He loves it and it would make him so happy! I need to remember that next year!)
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Our Green Gourd Duck πŸ¦†

It's almost Thanksgiving so it's time to say good-bye to our little green gourd.  While Grandma Dehner was here watching the kids, they found this cute gourd at Dick’s Market. The girls told me that grandma said, "It looks like a duck; we have to buy it!". πŸ˜‚
Mike and I laugh every time we walk past it. It’s such a Grammy Dehner thing to buy!  She has style!! And the kids love their little pumpkins this year.  No carving for us. It’s an off year for all things Halloween.

πŸ’•The Lyons Visit πŸ’•

We had visitors!! What a fun week.
Miller and Max were hoping there’d be snow when they came, and what do you know… it snowed the day the they came!! ⛄️
Where are your shoes Meg? πŸ₯Ά

My kids lasted out there for about 30 seconds, but Miller and Max were champs. It was Max’s first time seeing snow.  πŸ˜

While the kids were at school Mike and I went with Kate, Chad and the boys to Gateway Children’s Museum. So cute to watch them run around. They are such fun boys and adorable together! πŸ’™πŸ’™
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1AwxvJ4OUtkUzNTS6Zkv4o4W4R0zrCvkP
Friday the men went to work (Chad was taking a course while they were here), the younger kids had school, so those of us left went to In n Out for lunch. 🍟 πŸ”  Miller told us fun facts about the In n Out by him and told us exactly how it was laid out compared to ours. He remembers all the details about everything, it’s unbelievable!!  And Max was reading everything while he was here. Kate said they’ve never even worked with him on reading and that he taught himself (he’s 3!!!!). They said he does watch things with closed captions so that’s probably where he learned. 🀯🀯🀯
We were all fascinated with the brilliance of these two boys! They really are such special boys and we love them!!

Miller came with me to pick up the girls from school. As I drove, Miller was hanging out the window blowing his kazoo. When the girls heard him, they came running. πŸ˜‚
