Thanksgiving and the Lyons Visit (part 1)

We had a good group show up for Thanksgiving. 

The Lyons flight landed just in time for dinner!  So fun!! 

I brought some gluten free dishes so I could eat… I made a green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, cranberry-cream cheese dip with crackers, and some gluten free rolls with my homemade peach jam.  I had a lovely little feast! (And it was actually all really yummy!) 

Then it was time to decorate gingerbread houses.  I told the kids I didn’t want to do it this year and I wanted it to be their project.  Will and Morgan started the house with Miller occasionally popping in to help….

Morgan didn’t last very long and Will actually was happy about it.  He wanted to keep going all by himself.  

After a couple of hours I came back to Will wrapping up the final touches.  He stuck with that house for a long time and never gave up! I’m so proud of him and his beautiful masterpiece.  Nice job Will!! 

Look at these cute Rice Krispie turkey legs Brooke made.  So cute and I hear they were delicious!! 

Christmas Trees 🎄

These girls got a little grandma time making their own little gingerbread houses before Thanksgiving.  They loved it!! Didn’t they turn out adorable

4th Grade Family Turkey Project

Our family was supposed to do a fun turkey project all together… you know, bonding and all that good stuff.  We were supposed to decorate a turkey together and then enter it into a contest for the best decorated turkey.  I saw it in Mike’s office the night before it was due as we were putting the kids to bed.  So, in typical Dehner fashion, we grabbed the glue gun and whatever was on top of the craft box.

This may be the wrong season, but Christmas was all we had. 😂

There were some awesome, well done turkeys, but guess who won… Meg 😂. Apparently the 6th graders voted for a winner and one of the girls that Will is friends with, saw that this turkey was Will’s little sisters so she told everyone to vote for it.  So lucky Meg won the prize and decided she loves the perks of having a cute older brother at school with her. 😉

Guess who doesn’t have Celiac Disease…

Both boys are in the clear for now… let’s hope it stays that way!! 🤞 Miles IGA antibody result was low at a 39 (normal range is 52-287. Will’s was 101), but I’m not sure how that number factors in exactly… Their tTg IgA for both boys was in the normal range, so that’s good.   I’ve researched a lot about this disease, but I don’t know if doctors are even sure how to read all the numbers and if there is a great understanding out there about if there is a way to see if you’re in early stages…. We could do DNA tests to see if any of the kids carry the genes, but that’s so expensive and not covered by insurance, so we’ll just keep running the Celiac Panal on them every couple years.  

For now, eat all the gluten your little hearts desire!! 💙

Meg’s 10!!

This cutie-pie is a double-digit girl now! 

She requested I make her favorite OREO’s, so I did…. We ended up with a lot of them since I couldn’t eat the dough as I made them… I didn’t realize how much my pre-celiac self would eat of the dough while I baked.  😂 It was a little sad to not get to eat any because they are so dang good! But I survived and didn’t cry about it (even though I wanted to!). 

Meg decided to take some friends to Get Air to celebrate. So fun!  

She invited Will to come too. 💚

We stopped for ice cream on the way home. Yummy! 

B-day dinner.  Is anyone shocked she picked Chick-fil-a?  I wasn’t 😉

Go Cougars!

Will got to go to the BYU football game with the deacons.  BYU played Idaho State and won! (By a lot) Will had an awesome time! 

Ivy in the fall!

Ivy played soccer again this year. By the end of the season it started clicking and she was running all over that field! She’d even kick the ball every now and then. She’s the cutest!

Her 4th tooth fell out at school.  She was so happy because she got to go to the office for a tooth box.  🦷 💜 

For a 1st grader, she a great reader.  She loves taking a turn during family scripture time to read a verse.
