Go Smuckeyes

Last week we took the kids to their first official Ohio State Football game (OSU vs Troy). Thanks Grandpa for the tickets! I think Myles noticed fans holding up their finger indicating that we're #1 which inspired his pose for this picture. We didn't even teach him to do that - which to me makes it much cuter.

The kids were great and daddy got them lots of treats. If you're ever at a game you must try the lemonade at the lemonade stands. So incredibly and surprisingly yummy. The kids also had lots of people to entertain them.

The bus was just as exciting as the game. We left at the half and had the entire bus to ourselves. Morgan was worried when we first got on that there weren't any seat belts, but she soon realized she would enjoy the freedom. They both felt so big.
I think they are the cutest buckeye fans around.

I am Batman... Well Batman in training at least.

Last year I signed Myles up for a mommy and me class. We went only twice and I cried on the way home from both classes. Myles was out of control compared to the other kids. He wouldn't sit still and participate for one minute let alone an entire 45 minute class. I gave up and decided he wasn't ready for extracurricular activities. This year I decided to give gymnastics a try. PERFECT! Just what my boy needs - no sitting still and lots of things to climb on and jump off of. He talks about it all week long and actually looks forward to going.
Here he is walking the beam. This boy has been coordinated since he entered the world and loves to show off to the other kids that he doesn't need mom to hold his hand. He does it all by me-self.

So did you notice what Myles is wearing? Lately he has been obsessed with Batman. He picked out a batman costume for Halloween and begs to wear it all day long. After struggling to pull the costume off his screaming, kicking, back arching body to get his jammies on, Mike decided to go on a hunt for Batman jammies. When Mike came home and gave Myles his new jammies, Myles eyes lit up and he said, "I am Batman". Now we can get him to change out of his costume and into his batman jammes... The problem now is, he won't take off his jammies. He compromised with me this morning and would wear jeans if I let him wear his jammie top. Sure, why not - I really didn't have a choice in the matter. At least it makes him happy even though he looks silly.

I admit it, this is a boring post and I can't come up with a title so I'm not even going to try.

What do you do when high winds from Hurricane Ike stroll (okay plow) through the city and knock the power out for a week? You come play at our house! We were one of the lucky few that never lost a minute of power - we really are a righteous people over here in Limestone Pointe.

After seeing the damage the crazy winds did to our surrounding area it got me thinking, and even better, it got me motivated to start doing some of things I should have done a long time ago. I made each member of our family a 72 hour kit. It took some time and planning, but it feels great to have them finished. I even cleaned out my closet to make an easy access place to store them. Even after all the preparation of putting them together, I hope we never have to use them.

Oh, and I just had to post another picture of my bedroom wall... I decided that 6 pictures was just entirely too small for that large wall, so I added 4 more. Much better!

it's about time

The big, sage green walls in our master bedroom have been bare.... until now. I decided after living in this house for 5 years it was time to put a little something on the wall. I couldn't find anything I liked, so I decided to make some wall art. The best part - under $30.

I am NOT a scrapbooker, but I think there are some cute scrapbooking papers out there. I picked some favorites and put them on some 12x12x1 foam squares. Then I used straight pins to add ribbon around the edges. This is a little blurry, but you can see how I attached the ribbon...

Our room finally feels complete... Now that it's up, I realize I should have moved the pictures down a little and added a third row to the top... Maybe I'll get around to adding that, but for now I'm just happy I don't have a bare wall anymore.

I can't end this post without sharing my excitement for these laundry hampers. I've always just thrown our dirty laundry into one large basket and then on laundry day I sort them into piles on the floor. Well, I decided I am done with piles on the floor so I went to Target and bought three hampers... Now I sort as I go (and the liners come out and you can carry the load without moving the hamper). SO MUCH EASIER! I know most people do this already and I'm a little behind the times, but now that I'm 'with it' I couldn't be happier.
