We've been on a bit of a rollercoaster recently. At the beginning or March, Meg started complaining about her ankle aching again. I made an appointment with Dr Groundland, he couldn't get her in until March 15, so we waited. While we were waiting, the pain kept getting worse. Because of her experience with osteomyelitis, she knew exactly what it felt like and she was positive it was back. She even got down her boot from the closet to help with the pain when she walked. I was certain it was back and we'd need to cancel our Hawaii trip we had scheduled for the beginning of April. All the kids were so sad, but I was proud of them not complaining about it and supporting Meg. (They were heartbroken of course.) We knew if it was back she wouldn't be able to wait to have the surgery and we couldn't travel with her that soon post surgery either.
Everyone in the family, and close friends that knew, started praying for Meg. Grandma was so worried and extra concerned so she put Meg's name in at 4 different temples as she did her weekly temple work.
We finally got in to see Dr Groundland and he told us to get an MRI. The wait for the MRI was a few days, so we nervously waited. Over the 3 days I noticed Meg was running around and playing on it without complaining. It seemed to be getting better. So odd. The day of the MRI came and we waited for the call that we were positive would say she needed surgery. Well that's not what happened.
Dr Groundland called and said he saw no sign of infection. WHAT! It felt like a miracle. He started Meg on an antibiotic in case it was at the very beginning stage and couldn't be seen yet. So no surgery and we could go to Hawaii! It felt like a direct answer to our prayers. Grandma was certain it was Grandpa pulling a few stings on the other side, and I am reminded of the counsel we were given to expect miracles in our lives. I definitely think, even though we are undeserving of it, we were blessed with our own little miracle.
Here's pictures from the night before Meg's MRI. She was so sad that the trip to Hawaii could possibly be canceled and if she ended up getting surgery she wouldn't be able to swim this summer... So I ran her and Will down to swim at the Rec Center so she could get in a night of fun before everything went down.
They had the best time together! Such good buddies.
I swear Will looks more like Miles than Will in this picture below.
Pictures of Meg getting her MRI. SO glad this is over. The thought of going through this for the 3rd time was so overwhelming, esp for little Meggie. What a relief!
