Another Season of Lagoonies

Lagoon is now open for the season!!!!!!  I don't think that's enough exclamation points to express how excited we are.  

The kids used their Christmas money to buy themselves season passes.  Very wise children - it's the gift that keeps on giving all summer (and some of spring and fall!) long.  

We love this sign that says Welcome to Lagoon- Why thank you!!  We do feel welcome :)  

I love all their little pictures!!  Mike was out of town when we went, but he'll be getting one too.  I'm sure he'll have no problem playing hooky from work when he knows we're water-sliding-it at Lagoon-a-beach! 

First time of the season with this crazy bunch.  Such good kids.  They are all so nice to the little kids and love taking them on smaller rides.

They all love the Merry-Go-Round.  Who doesn't :)  

Even Ivy seemed to love it there.  It was a bit chilly in the shade, but the lines were short and the kids had a blast!  Yay for Lagoon.  You'll be seeing much more of us.   

The Butterfly, May She RIP

After conference we took a little family nature walk.  Along the way I saw a butterfly.  I wanted to show the kids my super stealth butterfly catching skills, so I slowly crept over to the butterfly and caught it.  We learned very quickly that it wasn't my skills that allowed me to catch the butterfly, it was because the butterfly was hurt and not able to move very quickly.  Poor thing seemed as though it didn't have long left in this life (I hope I'm wrong), but we had a good time playing with it for a minute.  It sat on the boys fingers, gave my check butterfly kisses, and my favorite was when it was a cute bow in Morgan's hair.  Mike wouldn't hold it for a picture because he thought we were torturing the already hurt insect.  I think we made it's last day alive something special. Expect when Ivy grabbed it and started to squeeze it in her chubby little fist...  The butterfly may not have enjoyed that too much...  Oops.  

The Alarm

On Monday morning I could hear the alarm on my phone going off...  I sat there for a second panicking wondering what in the world I was forgetting. I hurried and ran to my phone trying to figure out what I was going to be late for....  

This is what I saw when I got to my phone.

She's the sweetest!  I adore that girl.  (And I even hit snooze so it would go off again :)  

April Fools!

I couldn't let April 1st pass without trying to pull some sort of prank...  

I decided to write a letter to the kids.... from the school district.... and sign their principals name..... and tell them that there has been a change to the academic school year calendar.... and that common core requirements have changed for each grade level.... and that schools must teach the additional requirements before letting out for summer break.... and that South Davis School District came to the consensus that the school year would now end 20 school days later than originally scheduled.

HAHA!  I even stole the school letterhead from their website.  It looked pretty legit!!  

I even drew the post office barcode on the bottom and delivered a copy to a couple unsuspecting neighbors  :)

Mike opened the letter after work and I didn't say a word.  I heard him say, "What? No way?"  Then he explained the letter to me and I didn't even break a smile (which is so not like me... usually I would start laughing or give it away right away :)  I was planning to prank the kids, not Mike.  I thought for sure he'd spot the phony envelope.  Then he said, "So many people have planned vacations already, how can they do this??"  Then I smiled and he figured it out.

We called Morgan in and showed her the letter...  She was not happy about the news...  

I held my phone sideways and snatched a little video and pictures before she noticed what I was doing and figured out that it was a joke.  We had her going for a couple of minutes...

Will the Kindergartener

I am convinced that kindergarteners are the very best.  I love everything about kindergarten.  I love the very small amount of homework, that they are only gone to school for 2 1/2 hours a day, and that they are absolutely adorable!

Will's first field trip... He got to ride the bus for the very first time and he LOVED it.  He also loved that he got to go with his friends in morning  kindergarten that he never sees because he's in afternoon kindergarten.

On Friday, Will's friend Jarrin called to play.  I told Jarrin I was in the car and I'd swing by and pick him up.  When I picked up Jarrin I told him that Will didn't know he was coming and that's we'd surprise him.  When we got home I had Jarrin wait downstairs and I went up to see Will in the kitchen.  I told Will I had a surprise for him and yelled for his surprise to come up... When Jarrin came into the kitchen they ran at each other and hugged for a good minute or two.  It was like Christmas!  See why I LOVE kindergarteners!

With permission from Jarrin's mom, Will and Jarrin watched Jurassic World.  Will has been begging to see it for months and we finally caved and let him see it... We bought it as his reward for a perfect report card :)  I think the movie may have freaked Jarrin out a little bit :)  haha!! 

Ivy 9 months

Now that is the cutest 9 month old around!  

She loves pretending she's one of the big kids :)  

The cutest thing about Ivy is the way she gets around.  Most babies will crawl, but not this girl.  She graduated from scooting around on her back to scooting around on her bum.  She gets everywhere by scooting on her bottom.  It's hilarious!   I've never seen a baby get around this way and it makes people crack up wherever we go. She's definitely her own girl!  (Don't worry, I snatched her before she scooted down the stairs :)

Ivy does not like her crib. She never has.  I rock her to sleep and put her in her crib, but by midnight, she's back in our bed.  The second I put her on our bed, she rolls over and goes right to sleep.  She likes being with us and fortunately for her, we don't mind snuggling with her.  

I took this picture one night after I put her in her bed and she was not happy about it.  She started crying and pushed the bumper up to see out.  It was completely dark but I could hear what she was doing as I was sitting in the rocking chair...  I snapped this picture in the dark with the flash on.  Isn't that the saddest thing ever... It's like she's in prison looking out through the bars...  Come to mommy's and daddy's bed little one.  We will snuggle you and keep you warm :)  

If Ivy isn't scooting around on her bum, she's standing.  She loves to stand now and feels so big!  

I guess I need to make sure everything is nailed to the floor now or at least that it can support her weight :)

Standing is her favorite trick.  I bet she'll skip crawling and be walking in no time.  Little stinker :)  

Student Council with Life Lessons

Every year the PTA hosts a breakfast for the students and their moms.  Usually it's called Moms and Muffins, but this year it was Babes and Bagels.  The student council was the entertainment while we ate our bagels.  Morgan and the other student officers wore their student council t-shirts.

Their skits were adorable.  Here's Morgan yelling at the boys that are fighting over the chair to "STOP!"  Then she explains to them that there is a better way to solve this problem.

This part of the skit was to teach the kids that instead of making fun of others, they should join them and be friends with everyone.  

Yeah!  Go Student Council!  

Spring Break to Great Wolf Lodge

After marking off the days on their calendars one by one since Christmas, March 29th finally came!!!  

Spring Break baby!  We were off to sunny California.  The kids couldn't have been more excited.

Cute little Meg wouldn't let anyone help her with her pink bag :)  We made it to our terminal and found our airplane out the window.

We made it!!  This Great Wolf Lodge just opened a couple of months ago in Garden Grove, CA.  It was still all nice and new.

Meg found this cute little slide and that was where she stayed for 2 days :) Up and down and up and down...

Morgan built up the courage to go too.  I was SO proud of her!

Then, a KNOCK at the door... Who could it be???  

Grandma and Grandpa Dehner were in California and surprised the kids with a pop-in.  They were so surprised and excited to see them!

They bought the kids each a magic wand and cape.  

These wands really were magic.  They could turn on lights and play games with them all throughout the lodge.  They even worked in the kids cabin where the kids slept.  They would point their wand at the ceiling and the stars would light up :)  

We ate so much food. So yummy! 

Piggy-back rides to the pool...  These two were such great buds.  They would go off and battle the waves together in the wave pool and check in with us every now and then.  I've always been so glad we had them so close together in age.  They always have a buddy.  

Mike and I would swap being on baby duty while the other went on waterslides with the big kids.

During Ivy's nap, Miles sat with her while Mike and I sneaked away to race down this slide...  Mike won every time...  I tried so hard too...  This is even with me cheating and starting before he did...  (Mike's on the right, I'm on the left)   

They gave the kids wolf ears :)  

We ate lots of treats.

Then it was time to go home :(   

They were all angel travelers.  They make their parents so happy!!  

We will definitely be taking these little wolves back again!  Aaa-woooooooo!!!
