Our Big Kindergartener

Today Miles started Kindergarten. He was so excited!! He wants to be just like his sister, so he opted for a messenger bag instead of a backpack too. He is especially proud of his skeleton key chain that hangs from the zipper, and he just had to wear his star wars shirt on the first day.

Will walking Miles to the car. Will cried when Miles went into the school and wouldn't take him along. He's going to miss having Miles to play with - good thing Kindergarten is only a few hours.

A conversation with Miles before school today:

Miles: Mom, are you going to be lonely? (very concerned)

Me: You mean while you're at school?

Miles: Ya, Do you feel left out?

Me: No Miles. I already got to go to kindergarten, it's your turn and I'm so excited for you.

Miles: Cause I will stay home with you if you want. I don't want you to feel sad.

Me: No no no... Trust me Miles, mommy is REALLY excited for you to go to school. (I couldn't tell him just how excited I am for school or it might hurt his feelings :)
My little guy is so thoughtful. He really has a sweet side that comes out now and then. He was so sincere that I couldn't help but get a little teary. I love my Miles!

My 2nd Grader!

Today was Morgan's first day of 2nd grade. This year she wanted a messenger bag instead of a backpack - so mature of her. Here's what she picked out with the matching lunch box. ADORABLE!

Only one week and Miles starts Kindergarten. It will be glorious to have them both in school!! Bring on the new school year!

Ahhh. Much better.

The layout of our front room was bugging Mike, so I told him to let his creative juices flow. This is what he came up with. It looks much better. I knew keeping him around would come in handy :) I know the lighting in this picture is terrible. I took it at night, but you get the idea.

Our newest addition...

When we moved we decided not to drag our old piano across country. I wasn't sad to leave the beat up old thing behind, but I was sad that we wouldn't have a piano for a while. Mike knows I have dreams of watching our children sit and play beautiful music so he did what he does best... My man delivered! Our new piano came today and added just the right touch to our front room.

Another angle...

Morgan is so excited! Her lessons start back up in a couple weeks. I even pulled out my old piano music and am determined to learn a few new tunes. Now if only I could figure out what decorative pieces to add on top...

We went to see daddy's new office

The kids have been begging to see daddy's office, so I finally caved and took them downtown.

Mike's only been working here for 7 months, but things have been going incredibily well (although he'd never be the one to say it so I will). He's already changed responsibilites and I've heard from coworkers that everyone loves him. How could they not?? He's a tidy fellow, but I definitely need to go buy him some artwork. It's bare and needs a little something with color to liven things up.

After visiting his office we took the kids to ride TRAX and got off at Temple Square. There were a few brides out taking wedding pictures so Morgan was in heaven. Miles humored her and took her up in the little nook where they take bridal pictures and let her pretend to be the bride. We all gushed over how beautiful she looked.

The kids love riding anything with wheels around (and around and around) the kitchen island. Most days I look at the open space and try to figure out what I should do with it.. Should I make a sitting area, should I add a table, etc. But the kids love the room to run and play so for now it will stay open and empty.
The kids love giving Will rides on the back of the trike. So DANG CUTE!

Once we went boating...

And it was super fun.

Cute little Nate! And Will!

These kids have been friends since they could barely talk... I love seeing them together.

The moms were there wrestling with the little ones.

Fun dads tubing with the kids.

I'm kind of sad summer's almost over... It's been great.

We really are just a bunch of bums around here...

Do you see anything wrong with this picture?

Perhaps you can tell if I zoom in a little...

Yup, that's Miles's bike in the middle of the road. For some reason he thought that was the best place to park it when I called him in for dinner... Good thing Mike noticed it before we closed up for the night. It had been there for an hour or two and I'm glad it didn't get run over. Seriously, sometimes I wonder what goes on in that little head of his.

Anyway, moving on... This summer has been awesome. One huge highlight for me this summer has been sleep. When I'm pregnant all I want to do is sleep in... Not super late, but at least until 8. Well, all summer my kids have been pros at sleeping in. Especially Will. He gets up most mornings around 9. SWEET!! Although, he is a pretty wild sleeper. He falls out of bed at least once a week. I usually hear the thud and go in and tuck him back in bed... This particular night I didn't hear him and found him like this the next morning. SO CUTE!

I took this picture of Mike because it's the first time all summer that he was in bed longer than I was. He gets up so early all week and leaves while we are all still asleep. He has started running and riding his bike into work a couple days a week on top of his usual early Saturday run - so on those days he gets up around 5... WAY TO EARLY if you ask me. This pictures was taken on Sunday and I think his poor body was just so exhausted. I wish he slept more. (And I hope he doesn't kill me for uploading this picture :) He just looks so sweet.

I love getting free stuff. Both sets of parents have given us old patio furniture they weren't using. Well trust me, we've definitely been using it! This morning Morgan and Miles got themselves some cereal and I found them outside eating together in their jammies. They remind me of an old married couple sitting there chatting.

Besides sleeping in, I think I will miss eating all our meals outside once summer is over. Good thing we still have a few weeks before school starts. And I plan to eat dinner out there until the snow forces us in... And thank goodness that won't be for even longer!!
