morgan the photographer

Today Morgan asked if she could take some pictures. Myles was napping and I thought it was a perfect way to keep her quiet. She's got quite the eye - and she took a picture of it to prove it.

Then she made me join the fun. First I had to take of a picture of her doing something, and then I had to mimic whatever she did while she took a picture.
I must say her skills definitely improved over such a short time.

She is so sweet and I look forward to nap time each day so I can spend some one on one time with just her! Try not to stare too hard at my huge boat feet!

Here I am downloading a new meatloaf recipe that I'm totally stoked about trying tonight. I'll let you know if it's any good tomorrow. I love a good meatloaf, but have yet to find a recipe for one that I love... I guess I'm a picky meatloaf eater... Anyway, she snapped a shot of me telling her to hand over the camera. She rarely takes me seriously and I can't figure out why. I think I have a pretty good "I mean business" look... She can be such a sassy pants.

happy easter

The Easter bunny found us this morning... YAY!

And we had a delicious breakfast!

During breakfast I couldn't stop staring at Myles crazy hair... So I pulled out Mike's clippers and cut Myles hair for the first time by myself. I usually take my kids to get their hair cut by a licenced professional, but I think I did a good job for my first time. He's not happy in the picture, but look how much better he looks clean cut.
A few weeks ago Grandma Dehner brought over some adorable clothes for the kids. Among the clothes were the cutest Easter outfits for church.
Thank you Grandma!

After church we went to Grandma & Grandpa's for dinner and an Easter egg hunt with the cousins.

Myles couldn't open the eggs with his hands and refused to have help. No worries - he figured out how to open them all by "me-self".

a new love

I am feeling a little proud of myself... Yesterday I ran 11 miles. (So did Mike and my running buddies - GO TEAM!) Not too impressive to many runners out there, but for me I am feeling good about myself. A year ago I NEVER thought the day would come when I could run miles in the double digits and not die. During my current training for the Columbus 1/2 Marathon, I've found a new love... Not only for running, but for this special treat...

AnnDee told me to bring a bag of these Jelly Belly Sport Beans on each of our long runs to get an energy boost. I was really skeptical at first wondering if they would really do what they claim to do, but I gave them a try. I've used them on a few long runs now, and I have to say they are AWESOME! I haven't decided if it's giving me energy because of what's inside the little bean or if I just like having a treat to take my mind off running. Either way, I love them and they really do give little bursts of energy!! I recommend giving them a try on your next long run!

snowfest 2008

We've been dumped on! I've been wanting a good dumping since I moved here in 2000 - and it finally happened. It snowed over 20 inches - shattering the 15 inch record of 1910. This is how snow should be. I grew up where storms like this were common and we got to spend the winter on a sled. Now my kids have gotten the snow experience, but they have yet to experience the sledding part of it. Here is how many people sled in Ohio... (I grew up in the mountains with a sledding hill in my yard, so this isn't my idea of sledding - but at least they were having a great time!).

We tried something new - snow ice cream. My friend AnnDee called and said her kids were loving snow ice cream and gave me the recipe. We all loved it (except Morgan who gave it one taste and screamed, "Mom - this isn't a very good idea." She's never been an adventurous eater. Thanks for the recipe AnnDee!

It's been fun being snowed in! Mike has been shoveling and shoveling and shoveling (and with a smile might I add!!) He's a champ!

battle of the sexes

Have you ever seen the Everybody Loves Raymond episode where Ray comes home from vacation and leaves his suitcase in the hallway and both he and his wife refuse to be the one to put it away... It's one of my favorites. Mostly because I think it is so ridiculous that they waste so much energy being stubborn over something that would honestly take less than 5 minutes to accomplish. And who really fights over such petty stuff anyway...

I learned a valuable lesson from Ray and his lovely wife Deborah. Don't fight over dumb, petty stuff. Instead either do it yourself, or say nothing and wait for the other person to take care of it.

Let me introduce you to Mikes golf clubs.

He left his clubs in Florida after a little golf getaway and had to have them shipped back to our house. They have been sitting in our entryway for 3 weeks and 2 days now (but who's counting...)
I decided when they came that I would say nothing and nag not; and by doing so they will magically disappear from my entryway and end up in their correct home. I'm kind of sick of not saying anything, but I told myself I wouldn't say a word and I am going to stick with it.... BUT I never said I wouldn't write a word. Hopefully this little post will touch my sweet husbands heart and he'll realize that his wife doesn't want to look at them for one more day...

And if not - I'm sure I can find them a nice little home... in the dumpster maybe... :)

**UPDATE- IT ONLY TOOK TWO DAYS AND CLUBS FOUND THEIR PROPER HOME. THANKS BABE! YOU'RE THE BEST!**

Busted

Last night Mike had the following conversation with Morgan as he was getting her ready for bed:

Morgan: Daddy can I have some water.
Mike: I guess, but if you need to go potty during the night be sure to come and get me or mommy to take you. Don't go in your bed.
Morgan: I'll come and get you daddy. Don't worry I won't wake up mommy. Mommy told me whenever I wake up during the night to get you and not mommy.
Daddy: Oh she did, did she.

Mike then put her in bed and came downstairs to me...

Mike: I just had an interesting conversation with Morgan.
Me: Oh really, what did she say?

Mike then tells me the conversation above...

Amber: Laugh... (Mike scowl).. followed by more laughing (and more scowling)... followed by more laughing...

It took her 2 weeks to rat me out. I just can't believe I got away with it as long as I did.
