Every other year Shawn's family, The Garlocks, have a reunion. We were thrilled when we heard the reunion this year was going to be at the Timber Moose Lodge in Heber, Utah. With a new baby it was nice to have it so close to home.
The kids were so excited to have Grandma & Grandpa, Aunt Kate & Miller, and Scott fly in from Ohio.
On our way to the lodge we stopped where everyone stops on their way through Heber....
Dairy Keen!
The kids have been counting down the days to meet cousin Miller. They miss their Ohio cousins so much!
Poor Miller didn't get a break from them all week long.
The Timber Moose Lodge was unbelievable... It was unreal how big it was and how much there was to do there...
Here's just some of what the week included:
Swinging in the biggest tire swing I've ever seen that overlooks a beautiful little lake.
Rooms with tons of character. Who wouldn't love waking up to a huge stuffed elk over your head.... And the bat flying around above our heads at night was a nice touch :) creepy!
At some point there was 92 Garlocks in the house... There was a great turnout!
Shawn took us on a bear hunt for Family Home Evening.
Follow the Prophet people!!!
One of the highlights of the week was Pixies... Each person was assigned to be a "pixie" for someone else... The kids would earn tokens for being good (helping with dinner, cleaning up messes, or doing jobs) and then they could take their tokens to the "Pixie Store" and buy a surprise for their assigned person. The kids loved helping and buying things for each other. It was super cute!
In one of the many gigantic rooms in the lodge, there was this huge bounce house for the kids. They LOVED it!
Mike showing the kids his mad play-doh and coloring-in-the-lines skills.
Ivy bonded with Grandma & Grandpa...
Miles really enjoyed his snow cone.
Grandma took the girls on the Heber Creeper for a princess party.
Miller is pretty in pink!
Pink cupcakes... Meg's favorite!
Elsa, Anna & Cinderella were there!!
Meg and cousin Juni were, as Juni's mom said, "two peas in a sparkly pink pod".
The pool at this place is huge!
Tubby time!
One of my favorite parts of the week was watching Mike and the guys play ball. Those Garlocks have some serious ballers.
Kate and Scott took Morgan and Miles to the Crater Swim...
Getting ready to tube down the Provo river.
Miles and Mike raced in the family triathlon. Swim, run & then pie eating... Now there is a triathlon I'd consider doing :)
We had a fun family heritage lesson by Uncle Rick. He told us about Mike's grandpa Gordon which was neat because we really didn't know much about him.
The kids getting instructions from Uncle Pat for the Easter Egg Hunt.
One of the highlights of the week was the family swim meet. The favorite event- THE BIGGEST SPLASH!
Morgan and Will in the air. They had pretty small splashes, but what do you expect out of those two :)
Mike whispered something to Miles right before he went and whatever it was, it worked. Miles won biggest splash for the kids group.
My favorite picture!
I'm so glad the kids got to meet Miller! He's such a fun little guy.
The kids did great for sleeping on the floor and having a bat flying around our room at night. Let's just say by the end of the week I was glad to get back to our own bedrooms.
The last night we blasted the music and had a dance party... This doesn't look like much of a dance party, but trust me, it was sick (as my kids would say :). (And this kind of sick is a good thing :). All the kids and quite a few parents were up there getting jiggy with it. Perfect way to end the reunion fun.
What an amazing week. I couldn't believe all the activities that were planned each day (I didn't even post about the pinewood derby or the interesting fireside by Elder Zwick.)
We're already look forward to the next reunion. Garlocks 2017!
