Cosmo Visits 3rd Grade

Will has Mr Cassler this year. Lucky! Mr Cassler gets the kids all excited about colleges and they learn where they are all located and what their mascots are.  Occasionally they even have a visitor come.... Cosmo came this year and Will was so excited!

Alaskan Cruise Part 5 - Victoria BC

Our final excursion was to the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia in Canada.  It was BEAUTIFUL! The only bummer was that our ship landed in the evening and we only had a few hours on land.  We jumped on a shuttle to the gardens and had to see them in the dark.  It was absolutely beautiful, but it made us wonder just how amazing it would be during the daytime.  I told Mike we have to go back sometime and see it during the day.  I can tell it would be amazing.  Victoria looked like an amazing place to visit for a weekend.  I was so bummed we didn't have time to spend there.  It's on my list for a future weekend getaway!

I love this picture of Brenda and Casey.  After I took it, Brenda said to Casey, "aww, we look so rich!".  The way she said it made me laugh and now it's one of my favorite pictures.   

A collage of all our towel animals for one last time.  I love them so much!! 

We got off the boat in Seattle and had a few hours to kill before going to the airport.  We walked through the Farmers Market with my siblings.  It was a perfect ending to a wonderful week! 

Alaskan Cruise Part 4 - Ketchikan

When we were picking excursions to do before our cruise, I wasn't thrilled about this one.  My brother Mike talked us into deep sea fishing and since my Mike wanted to go, I decided to go too.  It ended up being one of the best parts of the trip!  

 

Steve had the first catch - a huge halibut that he ended up having packaged and mailed home to eat.  I had the next catch... A rat fish 😱not as impressive as Steve's. 😂

Then Mike reeled in this bad boy!!  It took forever to reel in, but totally worth it.  Mike and I did NOT package ours up and mail it home. 😂

My dad and brothers were on another boat fishing next to us.  They had some good catches as well.  It was a great day and now we can say we have gone deep sea fishing! 

Then back to the ship to see our towel animal and watch the Beatles perform.  We saw a few shows with the Beatles while on the ship, they were really good (almost as good as the actual Beatles 😉)!  

Alaskan Cruise Part 3 - Glacier Bay

Today we stayed on the ship all day and went into the Tarr Inlet of Glacier Bay.  The rooms we were in on the ship were right next to each other and we had balconies, so we were all able to go on our individual balconies and still feel like we were all together.  It was pretty cool to hear the cracking of ice as we hung out in the bay.  We were surprised at how loud the cracking of the glaciers was.


Here we are on our way to eat... again....  We learned that you feel like eating all day long when there is an endless amount of free food around you.  Mike and I both gained about 7 pounds in one week.... SO NOT GOOD!!  I guess always sipping on a pina colada and eating 5 meals a day for a week straight has consequences.    (But at the time we didn't care and it was totally worth it!)

Ivy's end of year preschool program

Since Mike and I were in Alaska when Ivy had her end of year preschool program, Grandma Dehner was the one that took her.  I'm so glad she took some pictures and went to support Ivy.  So cute! 

Alaskan Cruise Part 2 - Skagway

Today was awesome!  We spent the day in beautiful Skagway.  We took the railroad up the mountain and learned about the Klondike Gold Rush of the 1890's.  

The train ride was one of my favorite things about the trip.  We all got to sit together and enjoy being together while checking out the breathtaking scenery and listening to our funny tour guide.  It was a perfect setting for Casey because I think he looks like an old prospector 😂

Once we reached the top, we did some panning for gold.  

Then they weighted and measured our gold and we got to keep it.  I think Mike scored the biggest haul.  His gold was worth about $17.  chu-ching!

Then we learned about The Iditarod Dog Race.  I like a good endurance race, but this is a whole new level of crazy!  I think the cold is what turns me off the most.   
We got to hold more puppies!   

Then we got to experience the chamber from you know where.... I only took videos in the chamber, but here we are about to go inside... It was 40 degrees below zero in there.  The brought in boiling water and threw it in the air - the water turned to ice before it hit the ground.  Now that's COLD!  I only lasted a minute in there and was so glad to get out.  Even Mike wanted out. 

Then we walked through Skagway for a bit.  It was so charming. 

Then back to the ship to see what towel animal we got that day.  😍
